My mission is to educate companies, help them reduce costs and manage their Foreign Exchange exposure in an effective way.
During my career at a Treasury Dealing I realized that there are multiple ways of exchanging currencies for companies that are dependant on trading with partners, suppliers or customers in foreign currency. Some companies are actually still using the simplest form of exchanging currency – they send or receive payments to and from their bank account at an unknown or unfavourable exchange rate.
Luckily, substantial portion of companies is aware of the fact that they need to pay attention to foreign exchange rates and the way they exchange them. These companies at least set up a relationship with a bank or a broker and use their dealing services in order to exchange currencies and do some currency hedging.
But do these companies know, whether they are utilizing currency hedging, banking products and financial instruments (e.g. forwards or options) in an optimal way? Normally, financial institutions should educate their clients how to hedge effectively, but, naturally, banks are also interested in earning their profit.
That is why advice from an independent adviser might come handy and might lead to substantial cost savings and in some cases to an eye-opening moment for a company that used to throw money down the drain. Well, not anymore!
